ABOUT YEAST INFECTIONS

Yeast infections are very complex in nature. When there is a yeast imbalance in the body, there are so many different symptoms associated with the condition. This condition is overlooked and misdiagnosed by doctors due to the multiplicity of symptoms. Their rational is that a person cannot have so many different symptoms associated with one imbalance.

Symptoms of a yeast imbalance would include mood swings, irritability, depression, headaches, lethargy, gastritis, colitis, bloated feeling in the stomach, fluid in the ears, various rashes, itches, cirrhosis, acne, floaters or spots in the eyes, blurred vision, excessive tearing, burning of the eyes, dry mouth, cough, bad breath, blisters, sore throat, aching muscles, white patches on skin, various kinds of edema (swelling), joint problems, nasal congestion, stiffness, post nasal drip, cystitis, kidney problems, bladder infections, fatigue, loss of appetite, sleeping problems, numbness, tingling, endometriosis, cysts, cramping, PMS, hay fever, asthma, food sensitivity, hives, thrush (yeast in the mouth), colic and the list goes on.

A yeast imbalance if left alone is dangerous and will become debilitating to your health. Many herbalist believe that an over abundance of yeast is one reason for reoccurring disease. I met a women that lived next door to my sister, this was a few years before I began using herbal remedies. She was dying; this is what she was told by her doctor. She had been in and out of the hospital for 2 years. They sent her home and told her there was nothing they could do. But the good Lord sent her a friend that took her to an herbalist. The herbalist knew what one of her problems was just by looking at her and talking with her. The herbalist started her on anti-yeast herbs and acidophilus to rebuild the good bacteria we have inside of us to keep yeast under control. Her diet had to change also. It took several months, but she is still alive today and that has been 10 years ago. I thought this was the most miraculous thing I had seen, I have worked in the medical field for 20 years and this was a real eye opener for me.

One primary way people acquire yeast infections are from antibiotic treatments. Antibiotics kill the necessary friendly bacteria in the colon. Yeast infections are the result of losing its friendly bacteria, the acidophilus lactobacillus, normally found in the colon. When a baby is born about 75% of the bacteria in the colon is acidophilus lactobacillus (friendly bacteria) and the rest or about 25% is E-coil (bad bacteria). When we put something in our bodies that destroy the acidophilus lactobacillus (friendly bacteria), we are just volunteering for a yeast infection. Yeast infections are caused by antibiotics ("anti"-meaning against "biotics"-meaning life), which kill both friendly as well as bad bacteria in the body.

Steroids will often times do the same thing and birth control pills also have the capacity to influence a persons acidophilus balance. Yeast leaves the colon and travels directly into the blood stream. Once in the blood stream the yeast can move throughout the body into the organs, such as bladder, kidney, breast, brain and the lungs. The lungs are a nice, warm, moist, dark area, which is an ideal place for various kinds of viruses and fungi to live. There can be yeast in the brain and in the vaginal area. One can even have yeast infections of the bone, which frankly mimic bone cancer. Yeast is a major problem for many people. Yeast infections as far as I'm concerned are associated with the Epstein-Bar virus and chronic fatigue syndrome, they will always involve yeast.

VANQUISH THE VILLAIN

There are specific things people can do to combat a yeast condition. First, they should stop eating sugar. Sugar feeds the yeast. The objective of doing this is to take away the fuel for the yeast condition. This means all forms of sugar, such as honey, brown sugar, corn syrup, molasses, maple syrup and even some fruits and vegetables. I don't mean that you can't have a granny smith apple once in awhile, but unless sugar is cut down in a drastic way the person will continue to have yeast infections.

When children have a yeast condition, I normally suggest to the mother that she get a grocery bag and go through her cupboards and read the labels. Everything that has corn syrup or sugar in it put into the grocery bag and lock it in the trunk of the car so the kids can't have access to the sugar that will feed their yeast. This works well for adults also. Getting rid of sugar in the diet is the first goal. People can do anything if they know it's only for a short time. Cutting out sugar for a 21 day period is a small price to pay to rid the body of yeast.

The second thing I would suggest is to concentrate on building up the friendly bacteria. I suggest taking probiotics, Acidophilus, Bifidophilus, L Reuteri (chewable), Probiotic Eleven. Take the capsules between meals on an empty stomach or as directed. The capsules should not open up until they are out of the stomach and in the small intestine. Normally probiotics should be taken for 21days 2-3 capsules a day. Then I believe for the rest of your life.

Third, to eliminating sugars and taking probiotics, you must refrain from products that contain preservatives. Eat foods you can put adjectives such as fresh, raw and whole before the food. For example: eating fresh meat from the butcher is ok, but a blister pack of baloney must be eliminated. Have you ever opened a pack of baloney and felt how wet it is? That's because it has been soaked in antibiotics to keep squiggly things from growing in it. Thus foods, which have high amounts of preservatives, will kill off friendly bacteria.

Fourth goal is to use supplements and herbs to go through the body and kill the yeast. One product works quite well for this. Caprylic acid. This is a product made from coconut oil and basically draws the yeast to itself and then smothers it to death. Lastly I would suggest that a natural herb be taken with an antibiotic action (this is not in any way a pharmaceutical antibiotic). There are three different herbs, which I would consider, not using all three but just one of the three. The first would be Marshmallow root, if you have yeast in the kidney, bladder or urinary track.

Another herb to use if the yeast is in the lungs, breast area or the brain is Pau d Arco. If you have systemic yeast (yeast over all the body) Yarrow would be the herb of choice. Additionally one other Vitamin can be helpful and that is Vitamin-A. This vitamin is excellent for the tissues and the immune system since yeast attacks the tissue. Persons who have yeast in the colon and do not have enough Acidophilus in the colon, cannot convert beta-carotenes in their diet to Vitamin A.

One final tip, there are two foods that will not feed yeast, Fats and Proteins. Carbohydrates feed yeast. Durning this 21 day elimination period a high protein diet would be to your advantage and not particularly harmful to you since it is for such a short time.

THIS PLAN IS EFFECTIVE!

Acidophilus Flora-Force: (digestive system) is a strain of lactobacillus acidophilus, a symbiotic homofermentation, lactic-acid producing bacteria. Since many people are vegetarians or cannot tolerate dairy products, we have Acidophilus Milk Free.

Marshmallow root: In a herbal form might sound unusual to some unfamiliar with herbology – but long before the white squishy balls were sitting on the supermarket shelves, this plant was growing in marshes. The plant is a member of the mallow family, which prefers for it’s habituate wet places such as marshes – hence the name. The modern confection has none of the plant in it, but in times past the boiled roots were used to make marshmallow. Served as a vegetable the plant was considered a delicacy among the Romans. In France the young tops and leaves are eaten uncooked in salads. Its high mucilage content makes an appropriate supplement for the respiratory system. Each capsule contains 450mg. of marshmallow. Take 1 capsule twice a day with meals.

Pau d Arco: is the bark of the Taheebo Tree that makes its habituate predominantly in Argentina and Brazil. Unlike other trees in the areas, Pau d Arco does not develop fungus growth. The tree bark was one of the major plants used to promote health and immunity among the Inca’s and its use has continued among the Callawaya tribe of Indians in South America. Pau d Arco contains a chemical called Lapachol, which may provide nutritional support for the immune system. Each capsule contains 500mg. Of Pau d Arco. Take 2 capsules twice a day.

  • Carbonated drinks, alcoholic drinks, beer, wine, liquor. Fruit juices, any drink with artificial or natural sweeteners.
  • No sugars are allowed (dextrose, sucrose, galactose, fructose, corn sweeteners, syrups, molasses, sorghum or honey).
  • All yeast products (bread, crackers brewers yeast) or any products with yeast added.
  • Fermented and mold foods (cheese, mushrooms, buttermilk, cider vinegar, mustard catsup, relish) or any condiments with vinegar.
  • Peanuts, peanut butter or peanut products.
  • Processed meat, (cured or dried meats or fish, ham, hot dogs, lunch meat, sausage).
  • Refined foods, products containing white flour or white rice.
    YOUR DIET SHOULD CONSIST OF:
  • Carbohydrates must be limited to 80grms daily.
  • Proteins: 30% of daily diet.
  • Vegetables: 40% of daily diet.
